I know-it has been a hell of a long time. I am just in a great mood and wanted to share it with the world. I feel like a teacher. A real high school teacher. Maybe because that is what I am, but today I feel good about being a high school teacher. I took one of my classes into town and we did an afternoon health fair at a gym and IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I am so proud of them. Tomorrow night another class is preforming for the first time. It is weird think that I am teaching a service special, a strength training class, and a theater seminar...but that is also the beauty of my high school. I like this place today. I cant say that everyday, but when i can I like to shout it very very loud!!! Does anyone live in the Philadelphia region???? I have to take some students to a conference all next week and was hoping i somehow knew someone who lived there. Welp, i have to go-duty calls, which means more work. oh eagle rock.

Back and settled in colorado. Gearing up for the next three and a half months. I hope to enjoy. I must work on making this place a place my heart and soul really want to be more than 60 percent of the time. But as for New Years. I went to Vegas for a few days and had one hell of a time. A friend with a friend had a great hook up for the couple nights. We got a room, free music, movies and most importantly mini bar for all less then 150...yes it was over new years too. it was amazing for some poor public allies. the time was well spent and just lots of fun. we got in around midnight-which was perfect because that is when it was all starting. Endless drinking, dancing, gambeling, boys... it was beautiful and i truely understand why it is called sin city! it will go down in new years history. but alas, all great times must come to an end and i am back...in colorado, working. i need to grow up soon.

So I havent dont this in some time now. It kinda feels odd just putting a random post up every few months. But I do read your alls posts (about once a week or so...enough for enjoyment purposes)-so i am hoping to give an entertaining few moments to you all. Or put you to sleep.

Top Ten Reasons to Work At Eagle Rock:
10. You get to be a swim coach
9. Connie Chung stops by
8. Reading bed time stories to 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 year boys
7. We get paid...well kinda of-free food, a bed, and stories
6. You get to be the wood shop teacher and art teacher (even though you hate art and have never made a bench before in your life)
5. You learn life lessons-how to not sleep, how to drink lots of beer, and how to scare lots of ELK
4. You know your students practice safer sex (because you find their condom rappers in the school vehicles)
3. Apparently listerine is a new, fun drink
2. You get to go to free movies, dinners, sporting events, and activities all for the lovely price of taking students with you
1. It is AMAZING

Ok...hope you found that entertaining and maybe it made no sense to you at all. But that is ok. I laughed. Eagle rock is a truely unique place. I have lost my mind there and met once again beautiful people. Who knows what to say about it for real. If you want the whole deal i am willing to spill.

Life is about living right? Can we be sacred of those we love?

i wish i could give this place the justice it really deserves. every day is a roller coaster of emotion and very difficult work. it is beautiful and a continous learning process. i just wanted to share a small snapshot of the beauty that happens at eagle rock, because trying to even explain the entirty of this place would be impossible. so here goes a small segment.

each trimester eagle rock gets a bunch of new students. this trimester we had 28 new students come into the school. after two weeks of orientation they leave for a 25 day backpacking trip. the trip is pretty intense, the students are all very intense individuals and so it leads to a very crazy experience overall for the new students. Over the month and a half the new students were here, we had over half of them quit or be kicked out. (one interesting couple decided to have sex in the snow). so today was the 'run in'. all the new students did their six mile run into campus. alot of family members surpired their students and it was emotional and beautiful. it was neat knowing all the students had gone through this process.

Adventures in the life of a coloradian...

Living on a residential campus surely will lead to adventures in craziness... Last night (on my night off, having just come back from watching a movie with peps) as we are entering our house someone hears a girl screaming. So, the good fellows we are, we go on an adventure to see what happened and if everyone is ok. We walk past the first house of students and see some lights on. Then they quickly go off. We immediately head up the steps to the house to make sure everything is ok. As we approach the door we encounter a man sitting in front of the door, staring at us. Scared to death Megan and I scream-a life threatening scream (that comes to wake up the entire school). We turn and begin to run for our lives. Right behind us, the steps we just came up. The process of getting down the steps was not as graceful as coming up. Being the superhero I thought I was-we decided the best way to get down was to skip the last 8 steps. NOT the best idea. I got a good jump out, but the landing SUCKED ASS. I hit chest first and SLID on gravel a good five feet. Megan hit right at the bottom, landing hard on her ass and right ankle. Pain was all I remember from there on out. As we hit and turn around to see if the man on the porch is attacking us, we realize it was a stuffed, old man...like a scarecrow. So at this point are we in no danger, in a lot of pain, and really embarrassed. The students are all awake, looking out their windows and asking if we are ok. Megan is crawling at this point because she cannot walk. Students assume she is drunk and cant walk. It was a mess. The night ends with a trip to the ER because she really couldn't walk. And I was bleeding from about five spots... And to think the whole situation was just ridiculous, I swear. But today telling the story to all the students was fantastically funny.
